Okay, so the World Cup is around the corner and it's time to go over the rules and regs of this competition.
Firstly I've tried to go with a format during the group stages that incorporates most of the sides so that we don't favor any particular team or region over the other. With this in mind and with the restriction of having only a set choice per game day it was a little tricky but I feel that this is the optimal result.
There are however several anomalies such as France, Japan and Morocco all featuring twice and some teams like Peru, Iran, Switzerland, Costa Rica and Senegal not featuring at all. The result though, is that we'll be using the other 27 teams through the group stages.
To people that are familiar with the tournament POWERPICKZ setup you can ignore this next bit, to those new then tune in. We will we picking ONE GAME PER DAY to predict on through the group stages and we will be picking ONE PER DAY when the tournament reaches knock out. When it reaches knockout the game selected will be chosen randomly.
You are required to pick ONE selection per game on the OVER or UNDER goals total and ONE selection per game on the ASIAN HANDICAP. So in total, two predictions per game.
An example would be thus -
If I predicted Costa Rica +0.5 and over 2, and the match finished 3-0 to Costa Rica I would gain +0.96 and +0.91 units. So 1.87u in total from the match.
If I had predicted Serbia -0.5 and under 2 and the match finished 3-0 to Costa Rica I would lose -2u. -1u for each losing prediction.
Another example....
Trickier one this. If I predicted that the game would end 1-1 I would obviously want to be taking Japan +0.5,1 and under 2,2.5. So if this finished 1-1 I would gain a unit (+1u from the handicap line) and a half win on the goal line (0.91/2=+0.455). So a Japan +0.5,1 prediction and under 2,2.5 would yield winnings of +1.455 from the match.
One more example. If I want Argentina 2-0, I would be betting Argentina -0.5 on the handicap and under 2,2.5 on the goal line. IF THE GAME FINISHES 2-0 then I would be +0.97 and 0.9/2=0.45 so overall I would +1.42 for this match.
If I had wanted Croatia to win 3-0 and the match finished 3-0 Croatia then I would win on the +0.5 handicap at 1.96 = +0.98u and over 2,2.5 at 2.o0 = +1u. Overall +1.98u.
The profit and loss will be updated every night so that we have a rolling table day to day.
Now some more important bits....some very important bits!!!!
The game lines for the next day will be posted at between 9pm and 10pm UK TIME EVERY NIGHT. You have until 11.59am the next morning to post your selections (UK TIME). YOU ARE PICKING THE OVERS AND THE HANDICAP PREDICTIONS ON THE LINES THAT I POST ONLY.
If anybody fails to meet the time period of the previous night 9pm-10pm through til 11.59am the next day for your selections then they are classed as TWO LOSING BETS. I have to be fair here and consistent. THERE IS NO LEEWAY for being outside of this time, not even for a minute. I will remind you all for the first couple of matches after that you are all on your own.
The winner of the tournament will be the one with the most units through the tournament. If it gets close down to the final game between say 2 people then I will take their selections privately at the time.
The overall main winner will be the one that nets the most units as stated and the majority of entrance fee money will go to them. HOWEVER, there will be a slight twist.
On the final game you will be required to make ONE FINAL HAIL MARY BET which could see you win the prize for coming top on the HAIL MARY COMP. This is to ensure that nobody loses interest throughout with EVERY UNIT up to this point being vital (the Hail MAry bet will be the Hail Mary selection PLUS all units accrued to this point).
So if you languishing in 7th with +0.56 units, you can still make up the HAIL MARY COMP ground by nailing a 26/1 winner last match and snatching this title. So if you get off to a bad start DON'T LOSE INTEREST. Every unit could count throughout.
That's about it guys, get scrubbing up on that first match which is RUSSIA v SAUDI ARABIA!!
