Saturday review, today's thoughts

Tough old day yesterday, that was corrected with a flurry of late bets that gave me profit. A nice Hawks/Raptors double came in nice as did Utah Jazz covering the +13.5 handicap. The darts is continuing to baffle, although I did have a cash out lumper on Whitlock. Wrexham were the darlings of the day who got me out of some shit. Lay of Hyde at 1-0 and Wrexham to win at 2-2 game state both landed comfortably enough in the end.

Onto today and there's a mixed bag between some Italian stuff, a horsey bet and a double.

Siena 2.14 in the early kick off today look nice as do Avellino at home to Padova. 2.04. Hurricane Fly is being backed at Leopardstown at 2.00pm (2.28) and my double for the day is Fenerbahce/Aberdeen at 1.89. The rest will be some inplay if I fancy it.

Capital One action tonight

Fancy a preview today and we have a mix of some tennis matches and some football. Last night I took on Murray/Peers in the doubles and it's a strategy that I'll be undertaking for a while I reckon. I highlighted a week or so ago that I think there is plenty of opportunity in backing these two. They win much more than they lose and their odds are generally too high I feel, so at 1.67 I double staked it for today.

The Paris event is continuing to perplex, but this is mainly down to the end of the season where you're just not sure who is up to the mark. Paire was a classic example yesterday who just basically didn't give a shit in losing to Herbert. With this being the case I'm playing it reasonably safe with selections but I'm still going for two underdogs on the odds. Vasselin is 2.26 v Dodig and whilst the latter has a good serve Vasselin I feel is the man in form. I'm also taking Nishikori against Tsonga, Nishikori was his usual shiteness in Basel but bounced back yesterday to play well. Tsonga is the obvious favourite but I'm going for the Japanese 'maestro' at 2.80.

There's cup competition in France and England tonight and you'd be aware to note that these are sometimes a lottery. It's only because I've had a good run that I'm touching them at all. In France I fancy Tours to beat Amiens. The handicap is at -1 (2.10) and that's the position I'll be on. I'm also going for Bastia to beat Ajaccio. Ajaccio have scored just 7 times in the league and haven't won away, so the odds at over evens I think is very fair for Bastia (2.16).

Atalanta have punched above their weight this season I feel but Inter at 2.08 even though they are away can't be ignored. This one should be a good game actually. In Spain I also fancy Barcelona to beat Celta by two goals or more. The line is drawn at -1.5 1.90 and I think that Barce will be buoyed after that Madrid win.

And in the League Cup in England I'm going for two slightly controversial bets. Burnley have an absolutely superb record lately losing just one of their last 20 matches; quite brilliant. But I do feel that West Ham will set up better away from home and try and exploit the counter. It's for this reason that I'm going to lay Burnley at 2.40. I'm also going to lay Leicester as well as 2.32. Fulham are pretty shit away but they're obviously playing a team in a lower division. Can talent shine through on the day? Not sure, bit of a stab in the dark, but I'll stick with my lay of Leicester.

Friday betting preview

Anderlecht are away to Mons

Karlovic and particularly his serve looked mighty fine against Istomin yesterday and if he performs anything like that then he should cover the -2.5 games at 1.91 v Khachanov. Khachanov beat Janko yesterday, but let's face it, I could beat Tipsy the way he's playing at the moment and the youngster could get disheartened from being unable to return serve.

Stockholm has some very interesting matches which mostly I'm unwilling to call. Gulbis looks to be getting his act together at last but in the past this is exactly the time when he implodes. Jerzy will again rely on a big service game and you'd think that this could be a match of the day. I'm with the bookies in that Ernests has the slight advantage.

Ferrer has won the last five meetings between the pair, and this his best chance to win today. He's 2.40 with Ferrer 1.66. In a match which I'd call 50/50 right at this moment, I'd have to side with Verdasco to win here especially if he can take advantage of the starts Ferrer has been having.

The Dimitrov line is 3.5, and I'd have been willing to take a punt on 4.5 so I'll stay clear unless there's movement in the morning.

Fognini (1.72) and Tommy Haas (1.76) are other bets.

Kuznetsova at 1.74 is all that interests me in the women's against Vinci who I just cannot make head or tail of to be honest, the rest will have to be in-players should the mood take me. Look out for the Halep angle once again if she loses early games.

In the football in Belgium I'll be making a suggestion of Anderlecht -1 at 1.89 v Mons away, and them to score 2 goals in the match at whatever odds that is, if reasonable (odds not yet up).

Tours are 2.26 to beat Bastia which I like, and Leverkusen 2.08 v Hoffenheim. Union Berlin are 2.98 to beat Cottbus away from home and Cesena are 2.2 to beat Bari.

Thursday tennis betting preview

An excellent day yesterday and let's get started on Thursday's tennis preview.

Two men's games in Russia that I'm interested in and that's Karlovic v Istomin and Kukushkin v Dolgopolov. Istomin 1.78 looks a very decent shout in the first match, whilst Dolgopolov double stakes at 1.58 and normal stake at -2.5 1.83 would be my other go to bet suggestions.

Verdasco 1.62 v Nieminen will be another bet in the Swedish event. Verdasco shown last round that he's up for a fight these days beating Dodig 2-1 after losing the first. Nieminen is still a little too all over the place for me not to back Verdasco here.

Dimitrov and Gulbis are areas that I'll leave up to you. Excellent on their day but how often consistently is their day; stay clear for me.

I'd also be hugely tempted to back against Ferrer in some form. He isn't looking the same player these days but I cannot find enough compulsion to do anything personally with him against Sock.

Can't see anything I like in Austria so I'm passing on that.

Meusberger can be a tricky little so and so but when she blows bad she can be horrific and prone to the huge collapse in the region of 6-1 6-2 so taking anything here on the handicap against Stephens is dangerous.

And finally the women's Moscow event. I'm tempted to go 2-0 Halep at 2.00, which ultimately I may end up doing. Hopefully there's also going to be an in play opportunity outright at around 1.6-1.75 in which case a normal stake and double will be put on. Halep is the classic slow starter who mostly loses the first couple of games. This may provide enough angle to get a nice wager on.

Wednesday tennis betting preview

Stakhovsky was very impressive against the in-form Sousa and I'll back him here to retain that form against Vasselin. Stakhovsky is evens to go through to the next round.

The odds aren't up for the Tipsarevic match, but if the games are -4.5/5.5 at the line then I'll oppose Tipsarevic here against Khachanov. I can see Unibet are giving evens for the latter at +4.5 games so that's the sort of area I'm looking at.

Pablo Carreno-Busta should be around 1.85 with a +3.5 games head start over Paire, and I'm always a fan of going against the Frenchman. Jerzy Janowicz is 1.69 and this would be my double stake bet of the day. On his day he can destroy people with his serve and this could be one such day against GGL. If you fancy Lope then he's at 2.30. 

In Vienna I'd be happy to back Basic at 2.80 and Matosevic at 3.40. Monfils may not be arsed after his recent escapades v Novak, and this could all be too much for him tomorrow. 

There's four games that take the eye on the women's tour and firstly Bouchard to beat Petkovic is 2.20 that I like. Piter demolished the utterly useless Flipkens today whilst Wickmayer had a wobble against the equally pathetic Watson. From what I've seen, if Pitr can keep the ball in play then Wickmayer may produced a lot of unforced stuff. So I'm backing Piter at 2.50.

And in Moscow Stosur is 1.68 (again I'll double stake this) and I'll have Stosur at -2.5 1.95. The last suggestion would be Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova at 2.00. 

Edit - Monfils and Matosevic was cancelled so Monfils played Pospisil. Pospisil +6.5 was 1.75 which was taken!

World Cup Qualification betting preview

Word up Woy

The one I want to kick straight off with is England v Poland which is a critical game for the home side. You'd think this a dead rubber game for the Poles but they'll have huge support and the fear of losing will not be there as nothing rides on the game for them. This has all the ingredients for a not so straight forward night for England. Poland +1.5 is 2.18, and I cannot ignore that.

There will be tension filled moments where England may think 'what if' and in those moments they may be happy with a sneaky goal win. I'd be happy taking this Polish position.

Norway-Iceland and I fancy BTTS. There may be a little local needle in this and I can't see why the visitors wouldn't give it a go unburdened by any pressure. On the BTTS I also fancy Switzerland and Slovenia to have goals, 1.88. The Swiss are good at home and have qualified but the Slovenians can give a game when they want to.

Austria -1.5 v Faroe Islands is 1.76 and that seems decent enough here. The Faroe's have shipped in a tump of goals and I think they'll be opened up again tonight.

Belgium v Wales and I think this is going to be a rearguard effort from the Welsh. Given this is probable, they'll probably hold out better in the first half when fresher than the second and so I'll be on 1.83 Most Goals in 2nd half. Will Belgium score 3 goals though in the match? Not so sure. Probably look to lay this at 2.24.

France have been a pain in the arse for me for years, and I'm going to oppose them with a handicap today against Finland. 1.74 and a +2 goals start for the Fins would be my choice.

Montenegro v Moldova presents a chance for goals I believe. Over 2.5 is 1.87 and the AH line is -1.5 at 1.97 which I'd also take.

Scotland v Croatia I'll be looking at BTTS at 1.86. Nothing on the game and it could be a chance for Scotland to let their hair down, traditionally they produce some nice results when it doesn't really matter so they may score against the Croats.

And now for Group B, and where do we start?

Italy v Armenia then and if Armenia roll the dice there could be carnage. Over 2.5 goals is 1.82. Over 3.5 is 3.1 and I fancy both. I'll also be backing BTTS Yes 2.28.

Denmark-Malta I feel will go over 3.5 at 1.75. which leaves Bulgaria v the Czech's having another shoot out, which I think will end BTTS 1.88 and over 2.5, 2.16.

Tuesday tennis betting preview

Man, I feel like a man. But a good man.

I'm surprised that Alex Bogomolov is as high as 2.65 against Kukushkin in Moscow. Kukushkin is in very good form no doubt and he dismantled Kravchuk easy enough yesterday. But Bogomolov has a couple of eye catching victories of late and I think he may pull a surprise here.

Baghdatis may seem on the low side at 1.45 but I think it represents a decent bet against Donskoy.

Both Gulbis and Dimitrov are 1.33, with Chardy priced 3.5 v Gulbis and Copil 3.75 v Copil. Who knows with these two and whilst it is fraught with danger betting against both Dimitrov and Gulbis who have undoubted talent I'm personally going to go against them again, a tactic that has served me well in the past. Again, it's up to you whether you want to oppose fully or on some kind of handicap line, or even ignore this one!

In Austria I like the look of Dominic Thiem at 2.1 v Traver. It's his own patch and he may do well. Hewitt at 2.1 is also looking decent against Pospisil who's a little hit or miss sometimes.

In the women's side, only CSN interests me at 1.45 against the Russian Dushevina. I'd be willing to put double stakes on this one as my suggestion of the day.
