Sports betting - We love it, even though it's heart attack inducing stuff

The last few days have highlighted once again just how difficult sports betting is in spectacular fashion. First up was the NBA Finals Game 6 between the Miami Heat at home against the Spurs. Late in the third quarter, the Heat were dead and buried. San Antonio had opened up a THIRTEEN point lead and even by the Heat's standard for pulling back games late in the day, this seemed impossible as San Antonio were in complete control. James had been rather quiet, Bosh non existent, Wade just normal and Tim Duncan was on fire. There seemed no way back.

Unbelievably, three quarters of the way through the fourth and the Heat managed to lead the ball game by three, before the game was tied up at 89 apiece. What happened next was legacy inducing stuff. James had taken the fourth quarter by storm, in defence and offence whilst Bosh had come into the game more and more. Ginobli was having an absolute stinker for the Spurs and literally everything he touched turned to shit. Through a series of free throws, San Antonio had edged ahead to a seemingly invincible position, they were 94-89 up and the Heat were running out of ideas fast. Step up big Lebron; he nailed a three pointer when all else wasn't on. 94-92 Spurs. Spurs then again went to the free throw line, and converted only 1/2, on such tight issues do Championships get decided!

This is what happened next -
'Fans make noise. Leonard's first free throw? NO GOOD. Worst case scenario, the Heat could tie this with a three. Second free throw. Good. Three point game. Ball is in Chalmers's hands.. no good. Bosh rebound. Ray Allen hits a three! OH MY GOD'
It's why we love sports and sports betting. The ball just ran the Heat's way, and in the most unbelievable scripting ever, Ray Allen hits the most unbelievable pressured 3 pointer ever to take it to overtime.

In the end, the Heat ran out winners, and my +6.5 handicap Spurs bet landed....just...after being 13 points up (which is 19.5 points with handicap) at one stage. The Spurs were devastated.

Roll on last night.

Italy played Japan in a Confed Cup game, Japan smash Italy for four fifths of the first half going into an early 2-0 lead, before Italy strike back to 2-1 before HT. Then Italy go 2-2. Then Italy take the lead. Then Japan counter back with some brilliant football to make it 3-3. Then, with their backs against the wall Japan hit the post, then a rebound, then hit the bar. Then Japan had a goal disallowed.....you couldn't make it up. AND THEN FINALLY....in the dying seconds of the match, Italy with their only decent attack of the 2nd half score to make it 4-3 and to seal an improbably win!

Heart attack inducing stuff indeed, and a very clear reminder that you should only bet what you can afford to lose. In both these scenario's above, literally anything could have happened. But what a pair of games! Sport at times is just so glorious. Especially if you're on the good end of the bet!
