Sigh of relief for the new season. Del Bonis chokes. England wrap up Test. West Indies, Pakistan and Duckworth Lewis

D/L needs revamping for the modern game
Punters around the world are rejoicing that the new season is upon us, and that regular trading and betting techniques can be implemented once again. The off season for many, myself included, has been one of frustration and a general feeling of hit and miss with teams and leagues being bet on without the full knowledge of how bad they are. Real were the toast of twitter yesterday landing an over 4.5 goals bet as well as a AH of 2.5 goals over Bournemouth; the latter bet seeming too good to be true. Yes it was a friendly, but Real had their stars playing and this was a glorious opportunity.

Del Bonis who was picked yesterday at over 2/1 folded and crumpled like an amateur. He had three match points against the Fog, but converted none, then was broken and then became a shambles in the third set. Total choke-meister, so watch again in the future in any tense matches, particularly finals for a laying edge. These scars will be fresh.

England won the second test all too convincingly and there really is nothing more to say about the worst Aussie side ever to grace our soil. I also have a major problem with Duckworth/Lewis. The West Indies, before the rain break, were favourites scoring in excess of 260. This would have been a tight game as the game was longer and Pakistan would obviously have had to have batted for a longer time. But after the rain break, Pakistan obviously had their remaining 8 wickets in tact but over a shorter distance. Now, many would say that the chase was acceptable or fair, but the modern day 7/8 an over is seem by many pros as a less than average chase over a short distance. 7/8 an over over this short distance years ago is now more like a 9/10 an over, and Pakistan strolled in comfortably in the end.

I believe that the system needs reworking and revamping to factor in that small chases at around 7/8 over are child's play nowadays and that you shouldn't be punishing the team batting first and putting up a good score because of a rain break.
